Old Road Tavern missed
out on the chance to top the table after they were beaten 2-1 by The
Three Crown United and a referee for whom Tavern’s manager Bernie Court
would prefer not to see again in the future. Court and players from the
Three Crowns’ were baffled when the referee sent the Tavern’s Robbie
Burton off after 10 minutes for allegedly throwing a punch, from that
moment on in the opinion of the Tavern manager the game descended into
farce. Paul Maddox put the Three Crowns ahead on 20 minutes and although
Martin Beech put though his own goal to tie the scores for the Tavern
they were unable to hold out for a draw as Kelvin Page won the game for
the Three Crown’s on 75 minutes with a brilliant solo effort which saw
him beat four players before planting it home to seal his teams 2-1
success. Alan Davis also had a great game in goal for the Three Crowns
as he made vital stops at crucial times in the game.

Tony Beasley, were tipped to start their campaign with a win at home to
